More on file comparators
This just dropped in my in-box. Looks like it may be of help to our money players.

Kubotek Validation Tool assures manufacturers that two CAD models that visually appear the same truly are geometrically identical. Kubotek Validation Tool performs a critical test for manufacturers that rely on the 3D model as the product specification and distribute models to suppliers. Adding this step to the process of sharing 3D CAD data can prevent costly errors resulting from unintentional edits or translation errors when it is passed between engineering groups. The report generation capabilities of the software include simple pass-fail indicators, a tamper-proof validation certificate, and a detailed listing of any differences found.
Main Features:
* Compare revisions to find each section of the model that has changed. * Check translation results to be sure the new model exactly matches the original. * User customizable validation criteria. * Tests face sizes, locations, and types and model volume, area, CG and topology. * Works with models from all major CAD systems without requiring any CAD licenses. * Simple, pass/fail reporting. * Interactive visual 3D walk-through of results. * Ultra fast processing. * Full set of manual diagnostic, visualization, and model repair capabilities. * Report includes an encrypted validation certificate that stores a fingerprint of the validation process, ensuring that the report data is valid and has not been tampered with.
Unka' George [George McDuffee] ------------------------------------------- He that will not apply new remedies, must expect new evils: for Time is the greatest innovator: and if Time, of course, alter things to the worse, and wisdom and counsel shall not alter them to the better, what shall be the end?

to be really useful, it should have mastercam file format, cad comes in gets converted to a mc file that gets machined; and the whole thing can go out wrong with no one the wiser until tshtf. no point in comparing a catia file with and iges when neighter goes to the machining
