Filter Banks

WHAT is the application?

I need only general Information. I have to write a work about filter banks. But in literature i found they are only connected with wavelets but they are not part of my study. So I need very basic infornmation about them.

"filter banks" has many different meanings, technologies and descriptions. You are writing a paper based upon only these two words? Good Luck.

Thanks for your help. But i didn't know that Filter Banks has so much meenings. But the ones i am talking about are used in digital Signal Processing.

Again it is application related, what is the set of filters doing? Bank = many, or a set Bank of filters => 64 voice filters, each 4 kHz wide all adjacent and so on........

Could be many different sizes (bandwidths) or center frequencies
