Laser Printer Question re Drum Discharging

Jun 21, 2008 0 Replies

Hello,

Just gave a Brother HL 2140 Laser Printer as a gift. It's their real cheap one, under $ 100

Was just wondering about the "Laser" part.

I can't believe that for this price they have a true galvo. or rotating prism, or other type of scanner in it.

How do they discharge the drum, then ?

Might it be nothing but a row of LED chips on perhaps 0.001 spacings ?

A row of Laser Diodes ?

Or ?

Any idea how it's done so cheaply ?

Thanks, B.
