shopping advice

I am shopping around for a lego robot kit and I'd like a bit of advice.

Several websites have #3804 Robotics Invention System 2.0 for about $180.

The main lego site sells a kit including the following goodies for $230.

#3804 Robotics Invention System 2.0 #9738 Remote Control #4176779 9-volt Motor #9916 Capacitor #10049 Large Wheels and Axles #10072 Beams #10074 Cross Axles #10076 Gear Wheels

Are these extra bits worth the extra $50?

I thought they were because that is the kit I bought recently.

The kit you described above is K9916 Robotics Invention System Kit. Lego also has KB565 RIS 2.0 Basics Kit for $239.00 which contains the following:

#3804 Robotics Invention System 2.0 #9916 Capacitor #9738 Remote Contol #4176779 9-Volt Motor #B565 Jim Sato's LEGO® MINDSTORMS: The Master's Technique book

Actually, only you can make the decision on which version to buy. Some people will think the kits are worth it, others won't.
