Got a call yesterday. A very nice woman in a rather expensive looking home. Fairly recent construction, I'd guess 10 years or less.
Anyhow, she'd got an interior door that she wanted to be able to lock. Family coming in, and not sure she wants the relatives reading her letters, etc. So, she went to the store, and got a knob lock. Installed it (right side up, too). But even with the lock installed "it just goes around and around". Wants to know if I can make it work.
I'm not sure what that's about, wondering if the latch is missing. Or some other serious problem. Not even sure it's a keyed entry set.
I arrive at the job site, and find a F-51-N Schlage, installed right side up. With the latch installed. Lock appears to work, but doesn't lock the door. Any one wish to make a guess what the actual problem was? You have all the clues.... was it Miss Marple in the study with a wrench? or was it....
