Oaky, what is the proper position for the Traveler, Retractor (Gear box) and the Pinion (Gear). When putting the parts back together after rekeying....before you get so upset that you throw the device across the store......well just cant get the timming and placement right.

Will

have door open... trip the top latch by hand... door is in the locked position... assemble the pieces turn lock FULLY, and it SHOULD turn TO where you can remove the key... IF NOT... take the gear box off, and reinsert to where the gear is ABSOLUTELY on the top most position, in relation to the gear box..when you a re in the locked position, the gear box should be as LOW toward the floor as possible...sitting right on the top of the gear...

hold in hand, try key again... it WILL work... but if when assembling there is any space between the gear box and gear, when assembled, it wont turn far enough... BTDT, many a time...

Thank you!!!!!!!!

I spent 2 hours >>

One more thing... (and it's an important thing) If you look closely you'll notice a flat spot on the lip of the pinion gear. When installing the pinion gear onto the cyl tail piece, install it so that the flat spot is at

12:00 while the key is removed. Then do as Shiva explained.
