Old Diebold safe

My husband recently passed away and he had an old Diebold safe that hebought at an auction. He redid the interior to use as a gun safe. Heleft me the combination and I know it works because he opened it amillion times to get his guns in and out when he would hunt. I don'tthink there is anything else in there but his guns. I have tried thecombination time and time again and cannot get it to open. I have donemy own research over the internet and tried several different thingsthat were suggested, none of which worked obviously. The combinationis written like this: 4 turns to L 79, 2 turns to R 29, 1 turn to left59, turn R to stop. I know that the number it stops on is 79 becausewhen he would have it open the dial would be on 79. Could the firstand last numbers both be 79? That just seems weird to me. But cananyone help me get this thing open. I feel so stupid not being to beopen it even with the combination.

Thanks for the photo.

I don't do any safe work, just conventional cylinder locks. What are the numbers for on the "sides" of the "window"?

its an 'interesting' design> if you see it up close it has a large spiral line, that corresponds to the approximate number the dial is on. counting by so many units per line space.. --Shiva--
