Y'know, the way it works is the people with the worst attitudes are least affected by subtle reminders.

Well, gee whiz, I gotta get a good laugh now and again, even at my own expense some times.

Since no Biblical reference was made to the claim that God created "real" light "simply by saying the word," the authenticity of any light coming from light bulbs that is produced by feeble imitations of what is purported to be God's original work must be regarded with sober suspicion. However, if a new light bulb remains in its original package, and is never connected to a power source, it will never have to give off light or burn out. It forever remains an eternal source of potential light of questionable genuineness.

Now, for those who question the validity of any Biblical references, and refuse to consider other dogmatic explanations of similar questionable origin, don't forget that fire and its attendant light are still readily available to anyone who can create enough friction. With that practical reality fully acknowledged, all of the other fanciful and unverifiable beliefs pale in comparison. From that epiphany, any man can become an Übermensch who lives according to the principles of his Will to Power which ends in his complete independence to light a candle, curse the darkness or simply take a nap any time he feels like it.

From the foregoing analysis, it should be abundantly clear that open discussion of statistical studies focusing on light bulbs, and various complex means to illuminate, service and install them, essentially undermines the Ancient Code of Secrecy universally adopted by all truly ethical professional lightsmiths. Accordingly, those who dare to engage in any activity deemed to be in violation of the aforementioned code must be personally attacked, mocked, ridiculed, flamed and smeared relentlessly.

I hope my candid exposition provides a little candlelight to this superannuated subject. :)

On the contrary, GOOD advice is exactly what you DO need my poor cognitively challenged fellow. Unfortunately, you clearly need lots of it on a wide variety of subjects beyond locksmithing. Even if you started LISTENING MORE and TALKING LESS today, it is doubtful if any academic achievement beyond a GED is possible in your lifetime. However, any modest improvement in knowledge is always worth the effort. Perhaps learning the difference between "your" and "you're" might be a good place to begin? :-)

Ah yes, "...- " the opening of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony was always one of my favorite "V" for victory statements during WW II. It's always a pleasure to find another sophisticated individual who not only enjoys locksmithing, but good music and good humor too. <|:)

Wow! Just in time! What with the severe shortage of Usenet grammar police. I was starting to worry.

You never need to worry as long as some of us "in the know" are lurking in the shadows. Fact: Barring any clearly defective genetics, ignorance is a voluntary misfortune and there is absolutely no excuse for anyone to wallow in it.

While American English grammar is a useful subject to consider in any context of oral or written communication, it has so many subdivisions, such as generative grammar, relational grammar, stratificational grammar, transformational grammar and universal grammar, that a comprehensive study is not only beyond the scope of the example currently undergoing analysis, but it is certainly beyond the caliber of the regular participants. In an effort to be more precise, the specific call to examine the orthoepic characteristics of the homophones "your" and "you're" was done to gently instruct and direct the "Cajun Country Carper" to a subcategory of orthography dealing with the spelling, pronunciation and meaning of informal contractions. This is essentially an informal quasi-grammatical consideration. Accordingly, it is clearly out of the formal jurisdiction of the "Grammar Police." However, the "Orthographic SWAT Team" may be called in to pounce on all violators if any blatantly illiterate infractions are detected again in the future. :)

Good grief, what an awful bore you are, can't you at least compose something of even the slightest amount of interest to the group, instead of you pedantic drivel. You obviously just enjoy hearing the sound of your own voice. Yawn ! ....... borrrrrrrrrrring. At least you could learn to spell in the Queens English before putting pen to paper.

interest.

Your reply is clearly a contradiction of your claim, but anyone who unwittingly adds giggles to a thread entitled OT Humor is always a treat. :)

If the transitive verb form of "interest" is to be properly understood it means

1: to induce or persuade to participate or engage 2: to engage the attention or arouse the interest of. Again, your response confirms de facto participation or engagement. However, the fact that you read the satire, and did not like it, is entirely another matter for you and perhaps your psychiatrist to discuss? Our wretched species is so made that those who walk on the well-trodden path always throw stones at those who are showing a new road. The surest way to corrupt any group is to instruct them to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently. I must admit that satire is largely wasted on "perfect" people because it causes them to re-examine their perfection, and they are never happy with the result. :)

Dear KEYSENTINEL I know it must be taxing to your mind to have to comprehend what was intended when a word is incorrectly spelled. In the interest of sparing you the unimaginable stress feel free to e-mail me the post, I will interpret it for you and mail it back. LOL

Now THAT is amusing!

Most Americans who do not understand studied insult can only offer abuse as a substitute. They impulsively view everything on a personal level in two dimensions and usually miss the point and all the fun too. Truly humorous sarcasm must be less direct and display artful finesse. Elegant satire must have a creative edginess to it in order to earn any respect for its intended purpose to expose vice or folly. Considering your obvious interest and compulsion to contribute to a thread on OT humor, I am amazed by the fact that there's no beginning to your talents. However, since most people don't know what they're doing, and a lot of them are really good at it, I do maintain an abiding respect for the power of mediocrity because everybody understands it. :)
