Car made entirely from off the self parts?

Just out of curiosity, Does anyone have an opinion, on if it is possible to build a inexpensive car from entirely off the self parts?

Subscribe to alt.autos.kitcars or uk.rec.cars.kit-car.

Basically get a chassis / body to bolt on the bits from a donor.

I believe Johnny Cash answered the question definitively--and his answer was yes. Consult the song "One piece at a time" for details

Dear Steven Mason:

The vehicle in Damnation Alley (Roger Zelazny) was made (or serviced) from

18-wheeler parts.

You mean like from using your own body parts? Knuckle joints, rear end, headlight?

If you could manage to build the car it wouldn't be inexpensive. There is an economy of scale that comes into play.

I had one of those. I sold it after driving it about 170,000 miles. (estimate - the speedometer broke at 65,000 miles and I drove 6 more years without bothering to fix it).
