If you look at the v2front.jpg, there is a 12-sided outer ring. This outer ring is stationary. Everything else orbits inside the ring.

The 8 3-sided rotors are geared so each point hits top-dead-center in each of the 12 flat outer sides. What is not shown is the yet-to-be-designed contact surface that intersects the center of each of the 12 sides (lifting a piston, by the way) And all is good in the world.

However, at Bottom Dead Center, the piston rod is travelling downward at full speed when it meets the next rotor coming up at full speed. This is not good. It will work, but probably for a minute or so.

Look at the v2full.jpg to get the whole idea/picture (rotors have a different shape in this pic, but you'll get the idea)

I considered having a plate intersecting all 8 rotors, shaped to act as a "pre-lifter" if you will, but it just ain't elegant.

Help would be appreciated.

That's a mighty big 'however'.

Why doesn't the lobe just be extended to just reach the other cam? Then you'd have a 'constant' connection....
