shearing aluminium alloy

Hello
Does anyone know the kind of forces needed to shear a 2mm thick sheet of
aluminium ?
Also any ideas on the same - for sandwiches of aluminium alloy layers with fibre
reinforced composite in the middle ?
Thanks
Anjali

For pure aluminum V/A formula is ok ; ultimate shear stress of isotropic material is approximately 0.5773 of tensile value. For a sandwich, depending on honeycomb density and cell shape, shear resistance varies and manufacturer's catalogue ( Hecel company is typical) provides all the data. Core shear in design is negligible for low densites ( dens < 0.2 kg/dm^3)
