Looking for a good basic steam boiler operations book. New, used, free, recommendations....

You might try looking in a library to see if any of the Audel books will contain the specific info you're looking for. I found a Volume 2 (of a 3 book set) Heating, Ventilating And Air Conditioning Library.. Oil, Gas and Coal Burners, at a flea market many years ago. It's a very informative book, as are all of the Audel books that I've seen.

"The Lost Art of Steam Heating" by Dan Holohan.

Modern or turn-of-the-century (1800s)? Bourne's _A Catechism of Steam_ is available from the free online Project Gutenberg site.

I think there's a Boiler(maker) Bookstore at Purdue University. :) Randy
