Have nice time, Pete! Soon, we are going on Southern waters ourselves. We're taking a 4 night cruise on the Mississippi from New Orleans to Vicksburg and return. There are a few shore stops along the way to view antebellum homes and the Vicksburg battlefield, but the basic cruise is *air conditioned*.

It happens that my name is listed on the patent disclosure for the discovery of Dioxin. It was a Dow scientist that made the discovery. I just happened to get the job to build the glassware for it so I was included on the disclosure.

You're absolutely correct about the hysteria mongers. The more hysteria generated, the more $$$ they have donated by the fearful.

Prior to the discovery of Dioxin the technology allowed them to look at parts per million. One part per million is like filling Tiger stadium with white baseballs and only one baseball would be black in color. When they discover Dioxin. the technology got to where they were looking at one part per quadrillionth (I can't even spell that high!) Until then Dioxin was unknown to man kind.

The truth is detectable levels of Dioxin are found everywhere there is combustion, like on our barbeque grill. Now how long has man been cooking over fire? Just because we now can detect it doesn't automatically mean that it is a problem. It boils down to concentrations, not simply detection.

I have personally consumed many of very tasty Walleye's from the Tittabawassee and I'm still here to talk about it!

And NO I don't work for Dow any longer, in fact you can say I was a disgrunteld employee when I left in '93.

So the flow would be up from the south in West Bay? All I know is that I've had family around Texas City from before the big blasts and they say the chemical plants are getting worse not better.

Speaking of far away places , I just got some cheese curds from Wis. and they are still squeaky ! In-laws had to get a yooper trip in and must have done some hard driving to get them back this good.

I'm not sure about Texas City, it's probably about an hour away from Houston (and yes, it is a refinery town).
