McChrystal fired

I did not take it as dismissive or brusque. Just the viewpoint of someone who was an officer. I was a enlisted man in the Navy on Destroyers. Probably a big difference between Army and Navy, and another big difference between large ships and destroyers.

I still think the general public will see it as a decision based on appearance rather than substance.

Bill,

I don't care for Obama but I support the retiring of McChrystal. The guy was let down by his staff that he was responsible for. There may be issues that this was off the record background stuff that was used improperly but the bottom line is in the military, you do not disrespect the President and Vice President.

Wes

And you are wasting yours. Foreman is the only guy who's admitted to being on the list of "great cull" seditionists. He won't say how being on that list is honorable behavior. Whatever his point is here, it has nothing to do with respect for Obama in particular, whom he refers to as "arrogant", and will vote against even if the GOP puts up a Palin/Beck ticket or worse.

Wayne

Im glad you phrased it that way. And I agree. But its not universally reviled..ithey are only reviled by the Leftwingers.

Good job Bill!

One could not be a successful Leftwinger without realizing that, in contrast to the popular conception supported by newspapers and mothers of Leftwingers, a goodly number of Leftwingers are not only narrow-minded and dull, but also just stupid. Gunner Asch

Indeed it will. And the returning military troops already had a bad taste in their mouths over the Commander in Chief..this is going to leave a very very bad taste, that will likely show in 2012...or before.

This was not a political statement, please don't try to politicize it.

That story keeps changing as Wayne keeps re-writing it hoping for responses to his trolls.

Correct up to this point.

Hey those are great. (almost as good the batch of bagpipe tunes I listened to the other day) :-) Now watch the flames. ...Lew...

no attempt at politicizing your statement, just an observation that in this climate no one will listen to that which goes against their prejudices. I happen to agree with your statements but I am only saddened by the decline of any rational discourse

I mostly agree with that. I do occasionally listen to stuff that goes against my prejudices, though I may not make a big deal of announcing it. There may be others that do similarly.

I'm thinking about replacing that annoying windows startup noise with Revillie. :)

Nope.

wmbjk: "These mental-midgets actually believe that people just like you will participate in a rebellion. How hard is it to foresee that they have a second list of such folks, and that gummy put your name on it?"

While gummer talks the most about the "great cull", and occasionally salivates about being personally involved, *you* are the only guy I've seen admit being on the list of participants. Since then you've doing a Sergeant Shultz imitation

pretending that you don't know anything about the list.

No, correct all the way through. Feel free to elaborate about how your name got on that list if you like.

LOL Deep-thinker don strikes again! Considering the number of your responses, you clearly don't count yourself as a "real" dog.

Why not read up instead of writing ridiculously uninformed speculation? It's pretty clear that the general and his staff knew full well that they were on the record. The most likely explanation is that the general thought he was some kind of celebrity immune to reality, as demonstrated by the fact that he's been pushing his luck for quite a while. Granting access to Rolling Stone was merely the latest escalation of his hubris.

************* According to Jonathan Alter in his book ?The Promise,? McChrystal?s London remarks also disclosed information from a C.I.A. report that the general ?had no authority to declassify.? These weren?t his only offenses. McChrystal had gone on a showboating personal publicity tour that culminated with ?60 Minutes? ? even as his own histrionic Afghanistan recommendation somehow leaked to Bob Woodward, disrupting Obama?s war deliberations. The president was livid, Alter writes, but McChrystal was spared because of a White House consensus that he was naïve, not ?out of control.?

We now know, thanks to Hastings, that the general was out of control and the White House was naïve. The price has been huge. The McChrystal cadre?s utter distaste for its civilian colleagues on the war team was an ipso facto death sentence for the general?s signature counterinsurgency strategy. You can?t engage in nation building without civilian partnership. As Rachel Maddow said last week of McChrystal, ?the guy who was promoting and leading the counterinsurgency strategy has shown by his actions that even he doesn?t believe in it.?

Odd that a prejudice haggard Lefty can post that.

Interesting that they label "counterinsurgency" as a new idea. JFK's original concept for the Special Forces was as a counterinsurgency force and cadre. I had counterinsurgency training in the 60's.

You omit mention of where he later declared my having been removed.

Since you claim that anything Gunner says is false, the list you keep braying about must exist only in youor own mind. In any case, it has absolutely nothing to do with the firing of General McChrystal.

Your continued mentions of it are therefore obviously trolls.
