National Hydraulic Shear ?

I am thinking of purchasing a National 5216 hydraulic shear. Can anyone give me any pros or cons on this shear? Concerns are line of sight to cutting edge and standard backgauge.....are the rules engraved in bars like a Tennsmith?

Both are lower end American shears. If it is not used and you are buying new, set your sights a little higher and buy a PEXTO, Wysong or Cincinnati used. You will be happier in the long run.

I have a 52", 16 ga. Pexto for sale. An older stomp shear converted to hydraulic. Needs some cleanup..shrug..but the price is right.

To the best of my knowledge..all hydraulic shears need to be turned on before operation..so the pump runs when its turned on.

Which can be noisy..

about $1000. If I clean it up , I can get about $1800 for it here in So. Cal.

Im negotiable however..and am open to some trading....

It does have a back gauge of course

Frankly..Id simply like to not have to worry about it any longer..and its not easy to store and move without a forklift.

I also have a powered Diacro 6" notcher also for sale $1400.

Interested?

"The importance of morality is that people behave themselves even if nobody's watching. There are not enough cops and laws to replace personal morality as a means to produce a civilized society. Indeed, the police and criminal justice system are the last desperate line of defense for a civilized society. Unfortunately, too many of us see police, laws and the criminal justice system as society's first line of defense." --Walter Williams
