I bought a can of R-134 for my 1999 Ford Taurus SE so I could recharge the system but the fitting to the can and the low pressure service port is the same size and wont fit...what kind of adapter could I get and where or CAN I?

Any auto parts store will sell you the tap that screws on the can and has a hose end fitting that fits your low-side service port . If the hose end fitting won't click on your port , you've got the high side .
or an R12 can tap
Those are getting pretty hard to find these days , at least I haven't seen any lately at the parts houses around here .
Tha parts houses may not have em, but they are still plentiful at surplus joints and discount houses with the "universal AC recharge kits" I just tossed two of them going through the stuff in my garage.
Shucks , I don't need one . I have a set of the old refr guages , and a set of the new style for r134a .
