The correct way to do this , in my opinion , is to address a letter to your supplier expressing your concern with availability and requesting him to quote pricing for an alternative.

Then address a copy of your supplier letter to the management of the company in question and request feedback.

Its doubtful that anybody who actually knows the companies position is going to talk to you.

It may be that the problem is with your supplier rather than the motor company.

Research the company as if you were going to invest in them.

Ditto on the Supplier. I've encountered 2 suppliers lately that mysteriously listed items as "backordered" - only to find (by calling the manufacturer) that the supplier was (very) late paying their POs and had been placed on a "cash only" ordering basis. So until they (the supplier) ponied up with cash, the manufacturer was not filling their orders.
