Stud weld with a stick machine?

Does anyone know how to stud weld with a stick machine? Is there a switch I can use to create a single pulse. Can I hook up the electrode holder to the stud and just momentarily turn the machine on & off?

Won't work. A stud welder relies on a large bank of capacitors to get the welding pulse and it's much bigger than you'll ever get out of a stick welder.

A stud welder can be a tramsformer device, but with different V/I characteristics than a stick welder. Basically it is just a form of a spot welder and that means low voltage and high current with a controlled on-time.
