Boring head ID help

This is a boring and facing head that I recently picked up.

It's about 2 1/2" diameter. Anybody care to suggest a maker or vendor?

Thanks

Correct. Not a bad £42 as it happens.

I've done a bit more Googling and reckon that it's not Kaiser (shame) but actually a French made Enco

Which I'm sure will be fine. The facing mechanism seems to work "on the desk". All that's needed is to change the arbour.

Looks like the one we had with a 50Int taper, that was also an Enco IIRC.

Sold on ebay BTW.

I think the main company is US-based?

I seem to remember that if you take the moving holder out altogether, then you have access to the screw/bolt that holds the arbour into the main head, but I couldn't even start to move mine.

I did have contact with the people in the states over the head, I asked about identifying which model etc., but didn't get a lot of assistance in the end.

I've taken it apart and the arbour has a 25mm x 2mm thread on it. I suppose it's a "make it your self" moment to get an R8 version but if anyone has an idea of a source then please shout.

Thanks

Charles, I notice that RDG sell spare R8 shanks for their boring heads with a 37.5mm thread (no pitch given). No expert on threads but would this give you enough "meat" to re-cut to 25mm to fit your head? Have a look here

If you can't find the real deal it might be easier than a full make it job. My cheap Chinese (old) 1.5" shank is unhardened but these days you might not be so lucky.

Best regards

There was a posting on this newsgroup a few days ago from someone having found R8 blanks with soft ends - were they from Arc-Euro ?

Information Tools R8 ARBOURS. I visited the Midlands ME Exhibition today and made a great find at the stand of Kirjeng ME Services (Phone: 01509 672025). We have been able to get MT arbours with soft ends for years, but not R8. This company stocks R8 arbours with soft 2" cylindrical ends. Here at last is a method of securely holding endmills larger than 3/4" in R8 machines. Simply bore the plain arbor to the required size and secure with an allen grubscrew. I have no connection with this company but am delighted with this find. Cheers! Hubert
