Easy casting metal?

Mar 05, 2010 2 Replies

I wonder if anyone might have experience of using the metal tubes within which tomato paste is supplied as a source of castable metal? That it is quite soft suggests a low-melting point to me.

Any idea of its constituent metal?

Way back, toothpaste tubes (like oil paint tubes) were made from a tin/lead alloy, though I don't know the composition. I wonder though if modern tomato paste tubes might be aluminium.

Unlikely to contain lead these days!
