less toxic alternative to dissolve PMMA

hi!

Which of the solvents (THF, chloroform, MEK, acetone) that are use to dissolve PMMA is less toxic? or is there any other less toxic alternatives? can a mixture be made between toxic and less toxic solvent so that PMMA dissolves but the overall mixture is not so toxic? thanks heaps.

acetone

You could try esters. Some are marketed as "green solvents", e.g. DBE by DuPont. I do not know if they could dissolve PMMA

Try mixtures of water and ethanol. Probably the best solvent in terms of toxicity, and the worst in terms of solvency.

Doubt if you will find a solvent less toxic than acetone although ethyl acetate may be another choice. Frank

Ethanol is not a PMMA solvent. It may aid in removal but it does not dissolve the polymer. Frank
