38/ 29mm adapter & Kaplow Clip Question

Nov 12, 2004 3 Replies

I'm finishing construction of rocket that I used a 38mm MMT & plan to use a

29mm adapter at times. The problem is that I have to bend the brass clip to get past the wooden ring on the rear end of the adapter & with that bend, it's too confined to be able the screw the clip into the blind nut. I'm considering getting longer 10-24 screws & use fender washers for motor retention. I've been lukewarm on the look of fender washers, but I might have to use 'em in this case. Any other suggestions? Thanks. -- Richard "& they're already staring to use the term "blustery" for this Saturday (& of course there's a launch this Saturday)" Hickok

Rhhickok,

The PML retention system works well with 38mm/29mm adapters. Once you purchase the retainer then you can go to your local hardware store and buy the screws and inserts to use in all your other rockets.

Check out the hardware section for the retainers on this site:

Don't worry. It'll look great after the first second of flight.

Thanks, Andrew.......I was unaware of the PML retention system......I'll see if Kenny, my onsite vendor carries 'em this weekend. Anybody know other solutions? -- Richard "glad to FINALLY build that Rocket Vision Pegasus!!" Hickok
