chute lines

May 13, 2006 1 Replies

I have a 17 foot chute that the lines seem to have been cut near the original harness to attch to the payload. How may one reconfigure these loose individual lines to make a bridel/harness for useing the chute again. It seems it was a military demill job where they were just cut off outside the D-bag. Any Ideas?

The proper way to fix it is to have the canopy relined. Barring that, if there's enough line left at the base of the canopy, you can finger-trip and sew loops at the line ends, then put new lines through the loops and finger-trap and sew them. It won't be as strong as relining, but it'll be cheaper.

Easiest route is to talk to local skydivers and have them get you contact info for a local rigger. That person will be able to help.
