For the record, Gleda Estes flew the rocket on her 499th flight and
Vern flew it on its 500th flight. Vern even put it on the pad and
hooked her up.
After the launch I presented the model to Vern and Gleda with a small
plaque with the stats on the model, which I repeat here:
Purchased and built in 1973
Total number of flights: 500
Last flight, August 3rd, 2005 (NARAM 47)
Weight: 1.0 oz.
Total cost of motors used: Approx: $765
Total flight distance traveled: Approx 71.86 miles
(assuming A8-3 motors used each flight)
Repairs to rocket since 1973:
Launch Lugs replaced 2 times
Shock cord replaced 5 times
Streamer replaced 24 times
Remainder of rocket is stock from the original kit
I don't know if this is a record or not, but I will assume so (for a
"model" rocket) untill I hear different.
She's traveled enough distance to make it into space :)
