Chuck RudyI'm not into hp stuff (at least, not yet), but it occurs to me that while the ATF has a pretty bad rep among those who know and are interested, not very many of the public know or are interested. And that's why the ATF gets away with their hoodwinking of government officials.

Perhaps a well-written book on these abuses, particularly linking them together into a pattern of abuse of power/authority would get some attention and raise some eyebrows. I realize there have been such about Ruby Ridge and Waco, but another couldn't hurt.

Any rocket-launching authors in the wings?

in a typical local drug raid during the 90s the following were all present.

IRS tresury agents, federal marshal, ATF agents, local metro squad. The IRS generally busted the door down. The ATF did gun violations arrests and the Metro took the drugs.

That all became enhanced and automated under HSA.

Someone should tell them that they should not take drugs.

In true Keystone Kops fashion the misguided people at the top endangered their own people and resulted in the demise of many others. Things like that happen when there are no checks and balances attached to you in particular and your tunnelvision does not allow you to look around. IIRC there were two ATF agents who should have been arrested for blatantly lying to the Attorney General at the time. I'm sure an article pertaining to that is lying around, I'll take a look. Loss of life on both sides.

ATF was on their own on this one IIRC.......where were IRS, Mashalls, local cops, FBI (which took control later)? Which brings us back to the original question, where does BATFE have responsibility for drug busts?
