"AKA "Bug"" to modelers only...in the Fleet they are referred to as "Hornets". "Super Hornet", "Super", or "Baby Hornet".

Actually I learned the 'Bug' nickname from a friend who flew the Hornet in Desert Storm, and he isn't a modeler.

That's one on me then - I've been working alongside Hornet pilots for about 15 years and have never heard a one of them call the jet a "bug".

More recently, they've been calling the LRIP2 and up Supers "Rhino" because of the CAS antenna on the nose. Way to recycle.
