Any record of M26 Pershing Kills in late WWII?

Didn't one get smoked by a Panther at or near Remagen? Now that I type that, was it a Panther or King tiger?

Someone closer to their references refresh my memory.

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, perhaps you've misunderstood the situation.

I *just* received my DML T26 yesterday and was searching for similar info. The only one I know of is the well-documented Panther kill outside Cologne's cathedral. Beyond that, I've no clue. I did find out some were also shipped to Okinawa before the war ended but too late to see combat. Anyone know of info on those units?

There were something like 40 shipped to Belgium, 20 originals and 20 second "flight" so to speak. The first 20 were part of the "Zebra Mission" and allocated out to the 2nd and 3rd Armored Divisions at 10 each.

At least one named "Fireball" tangled with a Tiger I and lost, but another later nicknamed "Fireball's Avenger" took out the Tiger. Another one scragged a Nashorn and the most famous one was the 3AD that did a drive-by on the Panther in front of Cologne cathedral.

Second group went to the other armored divisions with at least the 9th getting some.

None of the ones in Okinawa got into combat, from what I recall.

The ones on Okinawa were going to stage there for OLYMPIC, the invasion of Kyushu set for 1 Nov 45. If Japanese armor and antitank guns had problems with Shermans, Pershings would have been to them what the Tiger was to us.
