There are some but many are OOP. The old "Harleyford" series of books are very good as each aircraft is covered and (Black and White) tone paintings are provided at the end of the book.

Also there are some good ones by Dana Bell on USAF and US Navy Colors

-- the first volumes are the ones on the "Tween the War" fighters and aircraft.

Which also has a mention of the reason behind the assymmetrical wing markings. I just got the three volumes from Squadron last month when they were going for $5 each. Apparently the series never made it past Vol.3. :(
