I have seen a couple of references to this, in relation to looking for kits, on this newsgroup and had two questions - what is it? And is it available to the general public (meaning me) on-line (or some other method)?
Since I don't see Tom's answer yet, I can tell you that it is in hard copy form as loose-leaf pages in a standard binder format. It comes in volumes. IIRC, they cost $25 each. If you're interested in what is/was available in 1/72 and close scales, this is your best source.
You can order them from Tom Young who visits this newsgroup.
My whole left arm is on the fritz...I think I've got a stress fracture in my left index finger from playing all those new guitars an average of six hours a day (and cutting u-boat holes the rest of the day...), my elbow is sprung from shovelling snow in a weakened condintion back in Chicago, and I don't know what I did to my shoulder...
And on top of all that, it seems I'm fighting a running battle with anemia from all that blood loss...I've gotta get back to the doc and have him draw some blood. I probably need to get back on iron sups.
don't forget the folic acid.got tests back monday. cholesterol 110 and the weight loss plus diet got rid of ALL the pre-diabetic symptoms. building a kv2 to celebrate.
The U-boat project is coming along. Been working on it steady. Got he outer pressure hull kit a couple days ago - just finished cutting the life raft containers off it...gotta scratch 'em to make 'em line up with the deck plates. Other than that things seem to line up well. Started cutting deck slots on the center decking this morning, but I'm going slow there to give my hands a break. Working on fitting the pressure hull mostly, so I can close the hull. Hoping to get that done soon...but I'm out of Panzer grey paint...
ESM 72 is a quarterly magazine published by Model-Aire International.
It started off as our original book, Encyclopedia of Military Models
1/72, which was published in France, England, the US and Italy starting in1985. It's 204 pages packed with full color box art, examples of completed models and parts layouts. Long out of print, a small supply of the American edition, originally sold for $28.95, is available from MAI for $15.00 plus postage.
ESM 72 was designed to follow up on the original book. When we included a listing of almost 5,900 kits and models of aircraft, vehicles and spacecraft in the original book we had no idea that the hobby would skyrocket the way that it has. We have listed over 15,400 aircraft and 4,600 vehicles kits and models with tons of b/w Illustrations. Starting with Vol.7 each issue also contained color front and back color pages. The quarterly format also allows for coverage of other subjects such as figures, after market aircraft and vehicle sets, ships & boats, and the like. Vol.9, #4 is currently in the works.
Subscrption is $25.00, all back issues are availableby the volume for the same price. Prices are slightly higher outside the US.

Yeah...just trying to deside when to go. I'm at the point in my construction that I want to get ahead of myself. I may opt for a quick strike tomorrow.
