Fortunecity warning question

Google reports this site as "dangerous to my computer". Should this be taken seriously?

Assuming you mean "

formatting link
" - if you are after hosting services you should probably try and contact some people who use them.

The "whois" listing for fortunecity.com returns: Registrant: c/o FORTUNECITY.COM P.O. Box 821650 Vancouver, WA 98682 US

Not really. I mean just to view a particular web page.

Thanks P J Macguire

Well, if you don't let us know *which* bloody web page you are interested in, how can you expect a useful opinion?!?!?!

(You go to the trouble of switching to the Solaris box and using lynx to look at the site and run a whois on the domain, and it's because of

*one* (un-mentioned) page!!!! :->')

Let me know the page and I'll look at it.

Well, there was a big dust up recently over at Auctiva (ebay third party vendor) this past month due to Google and Firefox warning visitors of Auctiva hosted pages that the sites were unsafe. Turns out a handful of Auctiva's servers were infected with viruses (or is that virii?) and that browsing the Auctiva hosted sites could and did pass the bug along to some PCs.

So yeah, there could be something to it.

The resolution was Auctiva cleaned its servers, issued several mea culpas and jumped thru whatever hoops one must jump thru to get Google to turn the virus and malware alarms off. Fortune City may not know, give a crap or have control over the situation if they're a low end operation that rents server space. Are they the ones that have/had the annoying wallpaper that obliterates casual reading if you have cookies turned off? I hate those guys.
