I wish I knew. I got most of my ideas for my rebuild from that site. Here are a couple other good references for this ship:

I think that I probably applied the engines first and then the boom. I know I did with the later version. Considering the amount of filler necessary I decided that it would be easier without the boom attached. On the earlier kit's main hull, I must have been pretty careful about lining up the hull halves. I don't see any troublespots on the model. The reason I sound a little vague about the first one was that I built it sometime in the '70s and I'm a little fuzzy about that decade.

TForward,
And according to one other poster black. . . Ok, on a slightly unrelated topic what was the "wildest" color you all have seen a kit cast in???

Chris,
Basically it's a way of verifying that the person who claims to have sent an E-Mail/posting is truly the person who did. As well as verifying that it wasn't altered by anyone between the time that it was sent and posted/received.

In my "vast experience" (insert sarcasm here) I remember a model of the Trieste submersible labratory when I was very young, maybe 8 yrs. It was orange, the front half was clear so you could see the interior. About 10 inches long maybe? Have no idea of manufacturer. Anyone else remember that?

I am sure that we have all run across models, at one time or another, molded in every color imaginable...so I really can't provide another outlandish example.
But....I do remember a kit (a Revell 1/72nd P-47 I think...), that had decal markings for an Australian version. The light blue "inner meatball" of the roundels, were printed in the most incredibly gorgeous shade of
*METALLIC* blue. It was beautiful; although I don't give it much credit for accuracy.- Vote on answer

That's SEAC. The RAF, RNZAF and RAAF generally had white centers for Pacific Theatre actions.

No, but I had (still have) a Matchbox 1/72 Zero which was molded in orange and white plastic...
There must be at least one kit released in bright shiny purple plastic. What about those "glow in the dark" releases?

I have a copy that I built (sort of) in orange. It had a weight for the observation ball and a rubberband 'motor' to make it work. With a little work it made a nice, if not overly-detailed model, about 1:100 scale. My copy was a Canadian pop-off of a Japanese kit. There was also an Alvin (very early version (have), a Japanese Kaiten manned torpedo (have) and a bunch of Jacques Cousteau submersibles (gimmie!!!!), all with the same swimming pool motors.

Purple? Must have been molded in that infamous inferior-quality Soviet "beet-plastic". The special "turnip-plastic" was reserved for special projects...
