The new release email hit today from Lindberg. I see they have reissued the Pogo. How bad a kit is this? It's certainly cheap but there may be a very good reason for that (:>

it's a bit spartan but can be bashed well. scale seems good, if i remember.
I have one and I've seen it built up. Obviously not Tamigawa but it does look very nice. The actual aircraft was very simple on the outside; no landing gear to speak of, few details. Here's a review.
=== Curt, I see you have combined Tamiya and Hasegawa to form a new company called Tamigawa - akin to ERTL and AMT, and Revell and Monogram (these were merged or purchased by the other to form one company). Do you know something we do not know? Just curious. And of course, I hope this question is not offensive to some or politically incorrect - you'll never know these days - not that I give a flying . . .

If I have to tell the truth, when I saw the picture of this kit, my immediate reaction was I wanted to build it up, straight out of the box, pack something heavy near the bottom and use it as a paperweight on my desk (:>
do you have that email link you can send to us all?
thx - Craig

pretty classy paperweight. i like the 1/4 lb credit suisse gold bar better.
thx. wow. never knew they had so many ships in or out of production. Wonder who is selling them. they sure are not advertised.
Craig
hobbytown had some. they do web sales.
I built one for a client some years back when it was out of production. It was typical of the kits of the day. Rather simple, low in detail but a nice looking kit when built. It has a lot of possibilities for super detailing. I would buy one!

Ray,
AFAIK, Tamigawa is just a magazine/modeller's term for the Japanese kit industry and the quality of their products - sort of the modeller's version of saying 'Rolls-Royce' when talking about quality. These two manufacturers are generally acknowledged as the industry leaders in terms of quality, so the names get joined. ANd I really don't imagine that there's any chance of a merger anytime soon.
Can we think of some eqiuvalents to denote the lower end of the scale? May I submit:
Leestar (Lee and Starfix. Not LeeFix, as that might upset our British viewers...)
RobG (the Aussie one)
Lord no, there's enough rumors without me starting any. Someone (on Hyperscale I think) came with this a generic one-size-fits-all, top-of-the-line company. I suppose we could also say Eduarditures or Accuuard.
I'm waiting for the 1/48 Grumman Goose that's still in the coming soon mode...or is that the re-coming soon? I'm not sure if this is a re-release of an ancient kit or new molds. Either way, at $9.60 for Lindbergs, $42.45 for CMK's, or $61.65 for Czech's (Great Models prices), I'll snag one just to see what its like. I'm not looking for contest quality, just something fun. Anybody know anything about these molds?
Doug
well then, starlee
why not ask the lindberg guy? need his email again? (i should get promo money, doncha think?)
And 1/50th scale, not 1/48th, if I recall correctly.
Cheers,
You mean the Glencoe re-release of long ago? That was the ITC kit.

If you want to build one, you'll have to scratchbuild build a whole cockpit for it, as all it has is a pilot in a seat hanging in a hole. Rivet detail is actually quite petitely done, and the canopy - although very thick - is really very transparent. The props need some cleaning up but they do counter-rotate via gears between them. It would need a fair amount of work, particularly in regards to the cockpit, but could be turned into a presentable model. There's info on the kit here:
You know, you could stick a Estes rocket engine in the tail exhaust duct... :-)
