excuse my ignorance .............but what are paint masks???
Paint masks are usually vinyl sections with pre-cut silhouettes in them. These are self-adhesive, so you can place the shape where you want them on your model and paint. Paint masks on full scale armor or aircraft are usually a heavy paper stock that are taped into place and painted through.
