model building/girl related advice needed

I split with my ex of 2.5 years a few weeks back, hurt like hell even tho she was slefish, nasty, 2 faced etc cow, only good things were she was pretty with a damn nice arse, and wasnt botherd i am a cripple.

Anyway i met this girl Thurs in the nightclub and we got on like a house on fire, my ex turned up and kicked off..but anyway.

This girl is 10/10 for looks, nice but the thing is shes German, she doesnt know much about me yet as my German is poor but she thinks its cute.........the thing is, as i make models, and at present doing lots of German armour, what would she make of that? For some strange reason she likes me, well she texted me and said she would love to go out on a date Mon, thats after i put off her offer for tonight.........i didnt think she would text back and want to make it another night

Im wondering if i brought her home, say she saw my Tiger or Jagdpanther and said, hey my grandfather drove one of those, or he flew a FW109 etc?

What would she think of my collection of RAF stuff too?

She did say he was Polish, shes from the former Eastern Germany so im not quite sure what that means from her history..........

I must admit i still cant see what she sees in me, esp as shes like 15 years younger than me, nearly 6 foot with a body to die for and a really pretty face, infact looks nothing like all the other German girls i have ever met.

Also i keep my GREAT grandfathers war medals on my fireplace as im damn proud, would she find them offensive? he killed many Germans with his special training and what he was good at, he was a sapper and was only caught when his English regiment was resting and sleeping after days of non stop work and the Scottish regiment was suposed to be protecting them, but when the Germans advanced when they couldnt hold them off ran off without letting the English know so all were killed or captured. I wouldnt remove them or pop them in a drawer but curious to what she would think.

Being single is like waiting for a bus, none at all then sudddenly 3 come along all at once.

I`d say go for it, I would be very surprised if your modelling subjects would be a problem to her. If you want to know why shes interested in you the reason is obvious, I`ve been reading your posts for quite a while now and your good personality and honesty comes across every time, Best of luck to you mate.

I have two friends who are German. One of them is Jewish. In my experience, neither one of them has a problem with it as both of them were born after the war. I've talked to one about my time in Germany while I was in the Army (Running up and down the Mohne dam singing the theme to the Dambusters and visiting Belsen). I've even mentioned my annoyance that the 'crooked cross' was missing from models (even she was puzzled by this).

One the whole, the impression I get is that the war had nothing to do with them as they were born afterwards.

Just imagine if the situation was reversed and she said that her grandfather was a German bomber pilot who had killed many allied troops and civilians. Would that bother you?

The thing to remember is that the Second World War ended sixty years ago. It is history. True, there are lessons to be learned, but we need to look forward and get on with our lives.

Just tell her about your modelling activities. She may surprise you. You think you have it bad? I'm primarily a *railway* modeller! :-)

Good luck in your new relationship.

Well for some unknown reason i made her laugh, mind you i kept saying had she ever met David Hasslhoff and had a Trabant and she said her granddad did have one.

Will have to see how it goes.!

I'd say that why they call it "gettin' to know you"...just let things go and you'll both make up your own minds. GO FOR IT.

...and quit turning her down.

Julian, buddy, you're getting your knickers in a knot over nothing, so forget her and go on to better things, and it sounds like this new one might be just that. Unfortunately, you're asking us to join your folly in trying to second-guess this new woman. You're how old and still trying to second-guess women? Dammit boy, it's not gonna happen in this lifetime! Go out with her, get to know her, let her get to know you more, and go from there. You obviously enjoy being a modeler, so ask yourself a simple question. If she gave the ultimatum of models or her, what would you do? If she likes YOU, then she'll accept your hobbies. If you give it up to satisfy her, it will be a sore spot in the back of your mind, and then I absolutely guarantee it will become an issue at some point in time.

Well she said my collection of exotic animals was fine, told her i made models over the fone and said fine......

In a few days im posting some pics of a winter dio i need to just finnish off, i may get her to hold it while i take a snap and get her head in the shot and post it in the binary site. I think i have the time line wrong, i think the German tank is too early for the T34 thats knock out. I do lots of winter scenes, i can hide how poor modeller i really am.

Im on a date tomorrow night with her.

I think i will give it a go, its just about the same as a situ 13 years ago where i split with a long term gf who was nasty and then split with a Slovinian model chick who adored me but i split with her cos that ex wasnt happy and who then i never saw again. If that makes sense..................

Im worried that this German chick will should she want to see me after a few times in the day etc, realise i have a pretty bad back and take meds, in a nightclub with a few vodkas i look fine, not sure how she would feel when i get out of the car with the mobility badge and some days walk in pain with a bit of a limp, the ex had to walk infront of me in those situs.

It took me decades to figure out that most women like men who, while respectful and gentlemenly in personal deportment and behavior, project an air of "not giving a s**t" about what the rest of the world thinks. Embrace your eccentricities and wear them as a badge of honor...as long as they don't violate any laws of behavior or hygene. Women often have low self esteem and are attracted to men who have high self esteem without being arrogrant or pompous. Like yourself and they'll like you.

I have always loved Spanish chicks, esp when i lived in the Canaries (well they speak Spanish!) but would never ever date a French girl. I always said i would never date a German (date and one night stands at parties are differant) but this girl is amazing, well from what i have found out so far.

Its 20 years since i was over there, but i still tried my best to speak her lingo.

I think you worry too much, Julian. Most of the younger Germans I have met seem to view their country's part in WW-II as an unpleasant historical event that is over and done with. They don't seem to spend much time dwelling on it anymore. My guess is that your great grandfather's medals ot your models. I'd be willing to bet they will be little more than curiosity items. If, by chance, she does say someting like "My grandfather flew/drove ......;" then you'll have something to talk about. You can describe the historical significance of whatever item it is as I suspect whe would not have much of a clue about WW-II items at all. Bottom line: Don't worry about a problem you probably won't have. Just enjoy the company let whatever happens happen.

issue at some point in time.

Abso-bloody-lutely gotta agree on that one! Even if it *never* comes up in the relationship, it will fester inside you until it becomes a relly big sore spot, 'coz I guatantee that she won't give up anything she enjoys for you! Women are like that. Anyway, she's only here (there - whatever!) for

4 months, so see how it goes short term.

BTW Jules, I'm visiting the UK mid-year - save a few for me, cobber, will ya. Ta.

If she's all that and you can't get passed the intimidation, send her to me and I will gladly show off my collection. I've always wanted to learn German - though I already know what "Mein Gott!" means. ;-)

Good luck, hope it works out for you.

It seems like I never have enough coin for the fare.
