More Lex questions

A few more questions about the Lexington (CV2) kit I am working on.

In a couple of those side galleries along the hull there are some machines that look like small cranes. Should these be hull color, or would they be some other color.

The portholes in the hull are indented but not clear through. I was thinking of drilling them all out and putting in microglaze when I am finished painting. I assume all of these hull portholes would have had glass in them.

What about on the superstructure? Did all the portholes there also have glass?

Don:

I don't have that kit but listening to your question makes me wonder if those are 1/350 representations of the light anti-aircraft machine guns (I believe they were .50 Browning water cooled MG's).

Whatever color is behind them.

Portholes should have been blanked over or painted to eliminate reflections from searchlights.

It does have water cooled .50's.

Reminds me, what the heck is going on with the USN? Back in the day carriers were named after American battles, historic ships or, in two exceptions, deceased presidents. Now every hack politician can get a ship named for himself. Wouldn't it have been better to name a cruise ship after Bush? Maybe one that specialises in rough Pacific crossings so the passengers can disembark in Japan and heave. A USS Carter would be incapable of military action and I don't even want to speculate on crew relations on a USS Clinton. Sorry, just had to vent.

FWIW I suspect that it has something to do with getting congress to be a little more willing to vote the funding for the ships.

I'm beginning to believe all the political ads pointing to the Capitol and saying all the trouble starts there. ;]

Perhaps you guys should watch out for the upcoming "USS Backhander" and "USS Porkbarrel"?

The USS Clinton will be a garbage scow or a floating bordello.

Though a submarine, given the cigar incidents, has a delicious irony to it.
