Not Good News for Carriers...

You are reading way too much into this.....

They first off will not deny the US rights to international waters. They are incapable of projecting power except to countries near them. Which is what this announcement is aimed squarely at.

To attack the US would be a great disaster for them. Turning worldwide opinion against them would damage their economy and set them back many decades. More of their small ICBM force is aimed at Russian than anyone else.

Think about this. They are growing their economy at a rate that is unsustainable right now without worldwide consumers fueling it, Which will eventually slow down at some point no matter what. They are trying to achieve what took the US almost 200 years to accomplish in a much shorter time frame. Again at some point it will slow down. Also... they have the largest growing aging population in the world. At some point they will have to come to grips with that. Make no mistake this is a very real problem for them. Somewhere down the road if they don't take care of their own people better they will implode under their own weight. This is slowly but surely happening right now as we speak.

This is a political ploy pure and simple, nothing more. To show countries around the asian rim that they are the power force now to be dealt with, no one else. Will it work ? No. threatening others like that only builds resentment, and concern. And who do you think those countries will come running to ?

And lastly.... Do you really think the US military just found out about this, and or is doing nothing about it ?

You need to read Von Clausewitz sometime.......

My arguments are no more than to say you cannot use your carrier force to intimidate China in a future conflict. There no pending conflicts now. The DF21 is likely the most current in a system of weapons developments across all arms that will make such conflicts against China ruinous. That's China's strategy.

You an sail anywhere you want. The idea is when war drums are beaten that your battle group be kept as far away as possible. Re my earlier depth of defense argument.

Why would China want to do a silly thing like that?

Indeed this is the kind of problem that is giving Chin's leaders sleepless nights. China's military priority is a simple "Keep the foreign invaders out." The generals can take care of that.

Every Chinaman over forty personally experienced what grinding poverty, societal insecurity and real hardship is.

Von Clausewitz pales in comparison with Sun Tzu.
