Was a twin Carvin V3 half-stack arrangement, with various sundry effects and a P-80 equipped Les Paul Classic Custom, alternating with an ash Deluxe Telecaster...

...but I just brought home some new motorcycle jewelry...er..parts. So I'm undecided, too.

Actually, I'm postponing my next project while the wife and I do a weekend in DC. I get to do the air and space museum, (to be fair, I get to see the natural history museum for her) and we're going to do a side trip to Piper hobbies and see if the stories about the old kits are true :)

There is Dragon armor on the bottom shelf that's been there for years. They are priced at the then retail. Apparently noone has figured out of they mark them down and put them on the special sale table they could get thier investment back and put in something that might turnover more frequently than once every 8 years.

It makes me wonder how they hang on. Even Granddad's got it and blew out stuff that sat. And they're gone. Go figger.

Do they have much in the way of things that fly? I was never much into targets...I mean, tanks...

Perhaps they have a higher walk-in trade because of the allure of finding a 'treasure'? There once was an old store in Reading, Pa. that had old '60s car kits still on the shelves well into the '70s. You never knew what goody might be hiding behind the stacks of more recent kits. I spent much time and money in there just browsing and finding stuff. Time passed, the original owner passed the store to his niece and her husband. Now you aren't allowed to disturb any of the stacks and all of the goodies were combed out and taken to shows where they were sold for the bigger bucks. Add to that the danger of driving into downtown Reading and there's just no reason to go there anymore. I haven't been there for years and I'm still amazed to hear that someone risked their life to find it still there and functioning.

With the to be processed stack of books and magazines now in excess of eight linear feet I'll be spending a lot of time cataloging and cross referencing. The stack grew two feet in a year. If there is ever an earthquake here and you guys don't hear from me tell them to look in my office under the mound of books or in the garage under the mound of

2000+ models!

I did pull the pair of Yak-11s down and plan on doing some work on them tonight. Finally cleared a difficult fit problem, so now they'll pick up speed now. Having a set of decals for "Blyak" from Thrust Decals helped a great deal.

That's how I found it too...and it was a serious let down. Very limited selection. And the discount table had exactly 5 things on it. All of them targets. Udvar-Hazy was fun as usual, but the museum on the mall was so incredibly crowded I couldn't get any good pics. I came home to several packages from ebay so that mad up for it.

Semi-familiar but I only know of Ironhorse Hobbies and Ott's. Ott's never had a sign out front. We just all KNEW it was there.

I've already forgotten the name I had been looking for in Reading, but that sounds like where I grew up near Baltimore. I'm not even sure of the shop's name to this day, and they never advertised, but I bought from them for years. The owners were an older couple that retired (and the neighborhood was sliding downhill fast); the new owners stopped buying new stock and let his wife turn it into a biz that specialized in putting names on bowling shirts. Guess how many weeks that lasted! I don't even like driving in that area now.
