Face it- regardless of party, opinions, or any other criterion: Ben Franklin was one of the greatest men of Western Civilization. Everything he did, he did masterfully. Scientist, inventor, businessman, politician, statesman, diplomat, any one of these roles would make a person a noted historical figure. Franklin did them all and at top level, all around. The Brits have a word- polymath- someone who is not really classifiable. That's Franklin. Just offhand, why isn't there a USN ship named for him? Maybe the CV Franklin and her travails were bad luck?
he did, he
...and quite the ladies' man as well! ;)
Thanks for bringing this back to my intent, Jim!
