Phantoms for Enzo

Enzo,

Did you say that you were looking for 1/72 Phantom kits? I've just got back from my local model shop and he had about a dozen Phantom kits, mostly Hasegawa, for sale at reduced prices. I hadn't time to make a list but if there are any specific kits that you're looking for, let me have a list and I'll ring him and ask if he has them and how much he wants for them.

Ooh! Thanks very much for the offer. However, I have 35 Phantom kits in my stash, each one assigned to a particular colour scheme and decal sheet. I reckon that it would take me three years to just build the Phantoms, never mind the F-16s, Hunters and Spitfires that I have lined up! I hnestly think that I don't need to buy another kit for five years...

But thank you for the offer. I do appreciate it.

...plus how many in your *deep* stash?

Just out of curiosity Enzo, approx how many Hasegawa 1/32 Spitfire Vb's do you have stashed away?

...but somehow I think you will anyway :o)

If I'd known you had so many Phantoms already, I wouldn't have exposed you to the temptation to buy even more. I'm impressed to read that you reckon to be able to make 35 kits in three years. I recently worked out that I've only made about 16 models in the last 7 years. Roll on retirement!

Only one. An Esci 1/48 F-4D, which is unlikely to ever get built. My Deep Stash is mostly comprised of a number of old Matchbox and Novo kits. There is also an Airfix 1/48 EA-6B in there... a Tamiya 1/48 F-15... a Tamiya 1/32 F-14...

None. I build Spitfires in 1/48. I have 4 Tamiya Vbs, 2 Tamiya Is, 3 Hasegawa IXs... I have no less than 6 Airfix Mk24s, which were all purchased at a knockdown price. They will mostly be grafted on to Hasegawa IXs to make the mid-range Griffon models.

Apparently Trumpeter will be releasing a 1/72 Gannet in the New Year. There's three new kits straight away! :-)

I'm currently studying for a degree, so I build a model in roughly three weeks. When I had first given up work and was waiting for my course to start, I was getting through roughly one a week! Mind you, I can see that once I graduate and get a job again, my modelling rate will fall.

Ah! Being Dutch you see, I am limited to whichever prototypes and scales I can obtain Dutch-related decals for even though I won't get a chance to build any of them for about three years.

Hmmm... Dutch subjects...

I like to build variations on a theme and it's great when that variation exends across different aircraft types. My current obsessions include the F-4, Hunter, F-16 and Spitfire. 323 Sqn used three of those aircraft types. And yes! There are markings for each currently on my to-do list.

322 Sqn RAF was Dutch and used Spitfire V, XIV, IX and XVI in that order. The XVI also carried Dutch AF markings when 322 Sqn was transferred to Holland.

One particular set of Dutch RAF markings is only available in 1/32 for a model which is no longer in production. The same set includes markings for a Dutch AF Mustang which my grandfather much preferred to the Spit.
