[Q] Captain scarlet kits?

I found a captain scarlet kit in a store here, it was the Angel Interceptor. However, the box had no scale. Did Imai make it in 2 scales, or is there only one? The box text said "Angel Interceptor supersonic combat fighter", but all the box photos I've seen on the net simply say "Angel Interceptor".

Is this kit any good?

Not bad, but it's only based on a TV show. I have the version that I guess was licensed by Airfix. When I bought it, Squadron had it listed under the 1:72 scale kits, but I don't know how accurate it might be.

Airfix had em..... Kit wasn't too bad, for being the only game in town.

I don't know whether they made it in more than one scale.

Box art is usually changed when a kit is reissued, and that kit has been around for a long time. They sometimes also produce different packaging for the overseas market. But they usully keep the same product number on all the reissues.

The Angel Interceptor kit I have is # B-1206. The instructions say it's

1/90 scale. It's rather small, about 7.5" long with a 4.5" wingspan. Quality is okay for an old kit this size. Raised panel lines are nice and thin. Some sink marks where the plastic shrunk as it cooled. No cockpit, just a blockish seat and a doll-like pilot. (Flat-chested too

-- guess the sculptor never watched the show.) Looks like it was originally designed to fire a couple of toy missiles, but those pieces are no longer included.

IIRC, there might be a larger kit in resin available. i remember alfred wong talking about it after wonderfest 2k3. you might want to check over at the discussion forum at starshipmodeler.com. there was also small figures, about

3-4 inches tall, that came with even smaller vehicles. stuart evens, "sevens" built some mighty fine tall resin figures as well. for more info, google "century 21 and gerry anderson." S.I.G.

On a somewhat related note, I came across a bunch of Captain Scarlett figures (3 of them, well four if you include the one with one arm) that are about 1:24 scale (3"-4" they're in the basement); anybody want them? Contact me privately.

There was a Japanese company making micro-models from the assorted Gerry Anderson shows. I picked up a bunch of em at Wonderfest for my collection.
