Question about USMC (or USA) armored vehicle markings Iraq.

The "V" markings on armored vehicles. Some are vertical and some are horizontal. The vertical markings are easy since the V is the same on either side of the vehicle. The horizon markings where the V points forward or back pose a problem since most times, both sides of the vehicle are not shown. If the V points forward, does it also point forward on the other side? In other words, if the V is open to the rear on the one side, is it open to the front on the other side? like < on one side, > on the other.

The problem with these is that some are tactical markings (the V) for coalition forces and the rest are tactical unit identifiers. Those are the ones where the V seems to "spin" as it indicates which company or platoon of a specific unit is using them.
