What is happening to group

What is happening to traffic? Is it just that summer is here? The last few days the number of new messages has only been in the teens! I can remember when it used to be 150-200. Even lately it has run 50-80.

Looks like the hobby became too hard. Summer is here, true. But the adults that build the sailing ships are still here.

Don Stauffer offered me a plate of cheese and whispered:

Maybe everyone is building models instead of mooching on the internet?

LOL As if... ;-)

I''ve been finishing up two projects which will be completed before Saturday. Frankly this group seems to have fallen off the modeling path. Too many rants that have nothing constructive contained within. It may be time for the "last rights"? (:>

Well, I suspect all the non subject BS about motorcycles, musical instruments and other baloney are driving many of us to neither post or even check the messages very often any more.

The other thing is that if you tend to watch the messages for very long, you find the same subjects rolling around a bit too regularly to add anything much other than entertainment value.

Also suspect that the serious modelers tend to move on to the more mature forums like Hyperscale and ARC after a while. They seem to (at least at times) stay on a little higher level and be a bit more serious.

Count DeMoney offered me a plate of cheese and whispered:

I hope not. I've always found this group to be very friendly and helpful.

Some of us are still here, others are intently working on some project or another and the rest are on vacation - it is summer after all.

As to what some of us are doing, I am finishing up on a mobile modeling bench (pictures will come later), taking care of my 5 month old granddaughter (Angelina Marie), working on about 10 models (ten minutes here, three there), killing weeds, watching the news, writing a couple of model reviews for the clubs I belong to and having a cup of premium roasted Colombian jove. Oh, forgot to mention working on my sightseeing plan while I visit London in a few weeks.

Cheers, now go build something,

Ah Norm, like you, I'm clinging fiercely to my immaturity! Where ya been anyhow?

I would have to agree,

Seems that if you want a response add OT in front of your post.

As Harry Andrews said of 633 Squadron "You can't kill a squadron" and this newsgroup will go on for maybe many centuries - or until the oil runs out! :-)

The novelty of using a PC to post messages has worn off for most people. Also fewer ISP's include newsgroup access these days.

This seems to be the lull in Usenet I see from time to time. Personally, I think a server somewhere reboots or craps the bed and things slow down. I've even had to unsubscribe and resubscribe to get things visible again. It seems to happen once a year of so... FWIW, I pulled 34 messages today...

i've been restoring my 1969 triumph tr6r 650cc motorcycle. it's 1.1 scale and quite a handfull of seams to fill, decals to set and has a tough camo pattern of green over white with gold pinstrip...er, demarcation lines. the landing gear neede seals and fresh tyres. being an english bird, it leaks oil so i'm working on that. and today i was stuck in a 4 hour traffic snarl on i15 in

117f heat with no ac. what are you doing for your summer break?

As much as I hate to admit it all I've been doing lately, as far as this group, is trolling. I read the posts with half-hearted interest, which, ironically, is the same perspective I have on modeling in general, even thouh I have some deadlines I'll probably not meet. My interest has always been up and down, but lately the down has been more frequent, and longer in duration. We bought our first house in March, and ever since I'm hard pressed to work up the ambition to get out of bed in the morning, let alone anything else. I go to work, do what I absolutely have to, come home and do the same. I used to read this forum daily, regardless of season or weather, butnow I hit it MAYBE twice a week. S.A.D. maybe, but I usually only dealt with that when winter was coming. My interest will rise again one of these days, it's just a matter of whether or not I do anything about it.

Yeah, seconded! Besides, I much prefer the rapidity with which I can handle text messages apposed to those slow web forums.

For me, it is the time of year. It's light until 9:30. Hard to come in in the evening and sit down at the computer while it is still light outside. Yard work, dogs to play with, golf balls to hit, bikes to ride, etc. Winter finds me back at the computer.
