Another PDMW question

When I use the bulk check-in to check in a top level assembly it finds all the parts and assemblies required but it does not find the drawings?

My project directory structure is typically three folders, Assemblies, Drawings, Parts and my library parts are on my server. The bulk check in will find all the sub components but not the drawings.

Hi Steve,

If you put your sub folders in the "referenced documents", (tools, options, system options, file locations), and set the tick box in "look in solidworks search path", then your drawing will be found.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip, but that does not solve the problem with PDMW bulk check-in not finding the drawing file.

"pete the first" solidworks search path", then your drawing will be found.

_Drawing Check In_

When parts and assemblies are checked into the vault, we can alos check in the drawings at the same time. You could eithermanually locate and open the drawings to check them in, or PDMWorks Workgroup can search for them.

It is important to remember the fundamentals of SWx file referenceing in that the drawings know what parts or assemblies they are referencing, but the parts and assemblies do not know where they are used. When you select the option to include drawings, a search must be conducted to locate drawings that reference the parts or assemblies we are checking int othe vault. Depending on the number of parts and asssemblies being checked in and the search paths used, the search can take a lot of time. (And possibly not even work depending on Windows Group Policies...)

To speed the search process you should limit the number of files being check in at one time and limit the search path to specific locations where drawings for the project are used.

That's from the PRMWorks for Workgroups training manual.

Are you Clicking the Drawings... button and selecting the directory where your drawings actually are instead of depending on SWx / Windows to sleuth it out for PDMWorks?

Sorry Steve, I think we all missed the "bulk" check in reference.

I take it you changed the file selection to, "Solidworks Files"?

Does the "list of files to check in", show the drawing files?

The " add referenced files" tick box is ticked?

One final thought, are the drawing documents, already in the vault?

I think Brians points are pretty much the answer. I have to check in the drawings and all the assy/parts will be found, it does not work the other way around.
