Can I assign a hatch pattern to a part so that I don't have to modify the default hatch pattern to every cross section in the drawing?
I read help on this topic and don't see an answer.

Yes you can. TOOLS/OPTIONS/SYSTEM OPTIONS/DRAWINGS/AREA HATCH/FILL
That doesn't seem to affect the hatch. I change the scale and nothing happens. I rebuild and nothing happens. I'm somehow not connecting the part settings with the drawing.

Are your drawings hatched areas set to use the part default hatch patterns?
