can vector drawing from graphic prog be opened and used ?

Hi, I have Macromedia Freehand (v9) and wish to bring its 2D front, side and end elevations into solidworks. Can this be done and can guidelines be snapped to the vector points to assist tracing. The prog is not accurate to

0.000001mm like say autocad, though its magnifications go to x32000, and the drawing is accurate at that mag, I se it rounds up at 4 decimal place. Would SW have to create each and every item on the drawing from scratch or can it utilise parts of it ? How best can the drawing be brought in ? It doent convert to Illustrator well, circles take on squarish look and pecked lines go non pecked. I have hundreds of plans drawn in it.

I just tried it out with FH v9 and it seems to work well,.. export as a *.ai file format Adobe Illustrator 88,.. it should work well importing into SW2007?..

..

Interesting. Not sure how I go about turning plan, side and end elevations into a 3D solid though, but it brings the vector lines in ok you say.

Irecall conversion to Illustrator has some glitches. Pity SW doesnt import native FH, it must be ai then ? Steve

There is a 2D to 3D wizard which is actually pretty helpful. I think it is under Tools/Sketch Tools/2D to 3D. In help, do a search on 2d to 3d and then scroll down to 2D to 3D Conversion Overview.

I'll bet there is a tutorial on it as well.
