Composite tooling conformity questions

Does anyone have any information on conforming composite forming tools, or moulds to a digital dataset?

Obviously some form of CMM inspection is required and a periodic CMM inspection through tool life is also required.

Also needed is a process to ensure that tooling string or manufacturing process ensures tooling conformity to the digital dataset.

This is to satisfy certification authorities that the end product manufactured always conforms to the Solidworks 3d master model.

I have some ideas but wondered what other people do.

Depending on the complexity of the part the slickest way is to use a laser scanner and do a part to model comparison. FARO has this capabilty in there software and it's pretty cool.
