Does anyone else have problems with the datum target symbol tool? I've needed it quite a lot recently and do not care for its functionality. The things I've seen that I don't like or don't understand.
- Can't change the size of the mark (X, circle, box). It seems to be tied to whatever the sheetsize was when a drawing was created. If I create an A-size drawing and create a datum target symbol, it creates the target area mark a certain size (too big IMOP, but useable). If I then resize this sheet to be D-size, it maintains its size. Now it looks appropriate for a d-size sheet. If I create a d-size sheet from the start, and place a datum target symbol, the target area mark is HUGE and I can't change it. If I copy the nice small mark from my first drawing, it pastes in the same HUGE size. I assume there is some stadard they're trying to follow, but I don't know what it is and I don't know why we don't have access to change it.
- In the feature manager for the datum symbol, try entering .125 for the target area size or anything less than 1. It gives an error saying please enter a number between 0 and 393.30070xx. Something is wrong here. If I enter 125 and then go back and add the "." it works fine. They seem to be parsing the dialog box on any change instead of on exit and when its sees only a "." it gives the error. I'll be in touch with my VAR on this one.
- My solidworks install is extremely stable, until I started using this tool. I get a CTD about 1 in 10 times that I dimension to a datum target symbol. I have not found any pattern to this, but needless to say it is frustrating.
Am I missing something? Do people use this tool? It seems to be very lacking in refinement compared to many of the other annotation tools
