Excel drive output by SW

I have a rather specific question.. I see alot of excel imput into SW, but I require SW properties output to excel. We design yachts and use extensive weights and centers studies to balance the boat. We have excel sheets of 1000's of items, and want to have our sw values automatically included in the study. My question is: Can a SW bom (or other method) be used to output to an excel sheet? I would like to be able to update a model in SW and have the revised weight and center update in excel. Cheers and thanks for your help . Derek

You can always use Excel's VBA to read stuff from the model, simple example:

-> SolidWorks -> SWxx tools -> SWie

I have an Excel file that I downloaded called "customprops folder catalog maker" ( I'd give credit to the author if I could remeber where I got it) that allows you to specify a directory that contain your SW files then extract any custom property you have assigned in the files. You could extract mass and CofG information into a spread sheet and use that as your output.

The one mentioned in th eprevious post has similar functionality.

I have setup a macro in Excel to dump info from SW models into said spreadsheet. It is based on an example in help called something like traverse assemblies.

I have also written routines that plow through a directory and do similar things, but the assembly one seems to be what you want.
