Re: Surface Import.....

It is a polysurface. When it was created was it faceted? It is possible to doctor some surface like this in Rhino or Maya. However, You may only get a more faceted surface. Are you looking to Rapid prototype this surface or CNC it? If so some packages will ignore the facets and look at the surface normals for smoothing and blending. Remember SolidWorks wants a B-rep surface when it is looking at IGES.

If you have a lot of these type of surfaces you might want to look at the

they have converters for a lot of software types mostly going from SolidWorks to an animation software like 3ds max or Maya. However, they may have a converter to get your surface the way you want it. It may not be a water tight model but it would import what you want.

I hope I have not made the water any muddier.

How does one go about getting a surface not to be so faceted. Say for an STL
