Rotating

I'm using SW 2008 sp0 with a fireGL V3600 video card. Every once in a while when rotating an assembly it locks up solid. Can't do anything but shut the computer down. Could it be the card? Thanks

Rudy

Can't say I ever had that problem, even with SP0. Since you are on '08 you must have had this problem for a long time.

Not really. I only installed 08 a couple months ago. It's happened maybe three times. 2007 SP4 never did it. If it keeps up I'll just go back to

2007. Thanks

Rudy

The take away lesson is never overwrite a SW installation or the models it created. Overwriting/converting closes the option of going back to a successful system after you have paid to upgrade to a buggy version.

If the problem does not appear when using OpenGL (Menu>Tools>Options>System), then the cause will lie in SW 2008.

One always should make at least two independant and *fully verified* backups and test that they will fully install & run. Software and user data. User data probably a bit more critical. This includes anyththing you did to the install that was later customized.

A new release may find corrupt files in older releases too.

Rudy,

How come you didn't install the last service pack? That is usually the most stable version.

Can you get RX to spit out a description of your system so we can see what might be the problem?
